Outremer: The Saga of the Knights Templar

Stephen Dafoe: Story and Colours

Author Stephen Dafoe

As a child, Stephen Dafoe wanted to run away and join the Mafia. However, as things worked out, he did the next best thing - he became a Freemason, and began writing about them.

Over the past decade, Dafoe has written several books on the Freemasons and the Knights Templar, including Nobly Born: An Illustrated History of the Knights Templar and The Compasses and the Cross: a History of the Masonic Knights Templar.

A life-long comic geek, Dafoe decided in 2005 to combine his love of the Templars and medieval history with his love for the sequential art form.

The result was Outremer: The Saga of the Knights Templar, a project more than two years in the making.

Although it was a story Dafoe was more than capable of writing, he didn't stand a chance of bringing it to the printed page without some artistic help ...
